SWEET TREAT WITH NO GUILT

Image
Hi! Today I am going to share another healthy recipe. I have yet to try this one, but it is on my list. Everyone craves a little sweet treat now and then... sometimes everyday.. (no shame)! But we know that a sweet treat every day isn't the best thing to do for your body. So here is a healthy recipe that also gives the pleasure of eating a sweet treat. These are called snicker date bites! They are made with Medjool dates, a naturally sweet date, peanut butter, peanuts, and dark chocolate. You get sweet and salty! Dates are so good for you! They are sweetened by natural sugar and have many health benefits to consuming. They are packed with all kinds of nutrients. You definitely can't feel guilty about eating this treat. https://www.eatingbirdfood.com/snickers-stuffed-dates/ Here is the link to the recipe, which provides step-by-step instructions. I am so excited to try and I hope y'all try too and enjoy them!

10k steps

Recently, I have been challenging myself to a new goal. I am pushing myself to hit 10k steps a day. This forces me to walk for at least an hour and a half daily. With the weather becoming warm and nice, this allows me to enjoy the beauty of spring while also getting some exercise in. I try to break my walking into segments. I go on an hour-long walk in the morning, a 30-minute walk mid-day, and another 30-minute walk in late afternoon. This makes it easier to reach my goal rather than trying to get all 10k in one walk. There are many benefits to getting this amount of exercise daily. It helps with cardiovascular health and reduces risks of cancer, stroke, and heart failure. Low-impact exercise has so many benefits that people don't necessarily think about because you don't feel like you're working out hard enough or sweating. In the past couple of months I have been doing this, I have noticed a difference in my body and have lost weight.  (via @eatmorelosemore on Instagram...

Hot Honey Meatball Bowls

Image
Over the past year, I have grown to love cooking my own meals and trying new things. Today, I am going to share with you a recipe I found that was amazing.  https://broccyourbody.com/hot-honey-chicken-meatball-bowls/ This recipe is SO good and protein-packed. You can also get all the ingredients from Trader Joes, which is my favorite place to shop. It also only takes 20 minutes! It is very easy, healthy and convenient. Being able to customize the base of the bowl also helps to make the meal interesting. You don't always have to have the same rice and veggies. I hope you guys enjoy this recipe as much as I did!  n g

POPPI VS OLIPOP

Image
We are all aware of the new "sodas" entering the market. These sodas market themselves as a healthy alternative to traditional soda while providing prebiotics. With two major brands prevalent everywhere, what exactly are they? Are they genuinely healthy? Which is better? (link to photo: https://dg6qn11ynnp6a.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/14173411/bevnet_poppi_olipop_fullwidth_01.jpg) While similar in nutritional value, the main difference lies in the prebiotic composition of each soda. Poppi uses apple cider vinegar as its prebiotic. There isn't much research to support whether apple cider vinegar actually benefits gut health. Olipop, on the other hand, incorporates a blend of various prebiotics such as cassava root, chicory root, artichoke, nopal cactus, calendula flower, and kudzu root. Additionally, it contains higher amounts of fiber than Poppi, aiding in regulating bowel movements. In conclusion, both are healthy alternatives to soda, but I believe Olipop...

3 Benefits to Strength Training

I have been strength training for 4 years now. I started it as a semester class in my senior year of high school, and I believe that it gave me the knowledge and confidence to go into Strom my freshman year. I was always active in high school, so this change in activity was not huge for me, but I have noticed a lot of benefits. The first benefit I would like to mention is enhanced quality of sleep. I am someone who needs about 11-12 hours of sleep to function, and I noticeably see a difference on days when I am active vs not active. I can fall asleep faster and stay asleep throughout the night after a day of strength training. Another benefit I've noticed, and this kind of goes hand-in-hand with better sleep, is mood enhancement. On days when I do not strength train, I tend to feel lazy and down in the dumps. After a morning workout, I spend the rest of my day with high energy and feeling a sense of accomplishment for what I have done. I tend to feel happier and better about myself...

Starting Point

Hi all! Welcome to my healthy habits blog where I post about different ways to implement beneficial habits into your everyday life. I am not a professional by any means; I am just a college junior who is passionate about staying active, eating healthy, and practicing habits to keep the mind, soul, and body healthy. Some habits I have incorporated into my life include strength training, daily walking, at-home recipes, book reading, meditation, and yoga. It is very important to me to stay busy and find time to meditate and reflect on my life. I have found meditation helpful in keeping me grounded. I hope you enjoy any insights I have to offer!
